All About Connections

Guest post by Paulina Leszczynska Sek, Quality Staff Engineer at the Engineering Design Center, Warsaw, Poland

The “Dress for Success” was a unique opportunity for GE women to get together and not only talk about work, science and technology, but also exchange views on health and wellness sustainability. The event was co-organized at the Engineering Design Center (EDC) in Warsaw by two GE’s initiatives: HealthAhead – an innovative employee engagement program focusing on employees and their families health improvement and the Warsaw Hub of GE Women’s Network – internal organization aiming to support women.

“Dress for Success” gathered over 50 women and welcomed special guests who talked the ladies through healthy food and diet, dress styling, gave make-up tips and spoke about female engineer students activation program in Poland. Katarzyna Bychowska, nutrition specialist, gave guidelines on good nutrition habits. Today’s busy lifestyle does not help in cooking meals and getting enough exercise. The attendees were able to hear how a balanced diet and moderate amount of exercise can lead to staying well and fit.
Stylist and designer Michal Kwiatkowski provided guidelines on what to wear and how to dress to feel comfortable but feminine, in – mostly male – environment. Last but not least Monika Banach, representative of the Perspektywy Education Foundation, talked about the Girls as Engineers campaign (Dziewczyny na Politechniki). The first activity by GE aligned with this initiative was a video featuring GE Aviation Engineering Vice-President Jeanne Rosario and shot at the Engineering Design Center in Warsaw.

During the event the guests could also hear about GE Women’s Network local activities and initiatives helping to promote women’s active engagement, their leadership skills and development. GEWN in Poland associates over 130 woman engineer members from three GE businesses.
