LED the Way

Have you ever wondered where new lighting technologies are coming from? GE Lighting’s Global Technology Center is located in three cities: Cleveland, Ohio; Shanghai, China; having its main office in Budapest, Hungary. Approximately 300 engineers work here on developing the light sources of the future.

From now on, one of our most recent energy efficient LED systems can also be found in Budapest as this dramatic feature lighting has been installed on an office complex, thus bringing a new landmark building to Hungary’s capital. It may not rival the city’s famous Castle and Parliament, but the Alkotás Point office complex is decorated with 100 m of LED lighting to highlight this modern building in a truly distinctive fashion.

Our Contour product, specifically designed for architectural use, is a flexible technology that can be easily brought to virtually any shape. Equally important, this Tetra LED system is a truly green (ecomagination certified) solution delivering up to 90% energy savings compared to traditional products.

Our lighting business has been a technology pioneer from the very invention of the first affordable incandescent lamp by Thomas Alva Edison. The business is a thought leader in its sector, particularly due to its specific research and development intended to boost energy efficiency across the entire spectrum of applications for residential, commercial and industrial uses.
